Dear Parents,

Welcome Back! It was wonderful to see the children happily coming into school on Wednesday, eager to catch up with friends and teachers. 

I trust that everyone is feeling refreshed and rejuvenated after the Easter holidays, with ample time for happiness, relaxation, and special moments with their families.

To all our families who observed Easter, Eid, or Vaisakhi, I extend warm wishes of joy, love and prosperity to each and every one of you. These diverse cultural festivities enhance our school community, promoting solidarity, respect, and companionship within the St. Bernard's School family.

I began the week with an assembly, where I asked our children and staff a profound question: "What is a good life?" Their answers touched my heart and highlighted the remarkable potential within each and every child. Leading this fantastic school community fills me with great pride. However, I must admit I was a little surprised by Mr. B's aspiration to become a fisherman 'when he grows up' and Madame Miller's dream of being a trapeze artist! 

I am excited to embark on a new term filled with learning, growth, and success. Our dedicated staff are committed to providing a safe and stimulating environment for all our children, with so many opportunities to learn new skills. 

Early Years 

Our Early Years children had a wonderful time celebrating Eid this week. Mrs Din shared with us how she celebrated with her family and even made a scrumptious vermicelli for us to enjoy together We also had a blast watching and learning how to create intricate henna patterns! What a fun-filled day of celebrations it was! 

Year 2 

With smiles on their faces and a spring in their step, the Upper Prep children arrived ready for the Summer term and the new learning that it will bring. 
Our Science topic of Animals including humans got started with the pupils sorting living and non- living things before heading around school to take photographs of objects using iPads. As you can see, we have a few David Baileys in our midst!

Today, we were delighted to witness some of our children enjoying our recently unveiled outdoor classroom during lunchtime. We are excited to offer this special space for our children to thrive and develop in a fresh and inspiring environment. We eagerly anticipate fostering their passion for learning and discovery together!

Achievements:

Congratulations to Kaiden (Yr 6) who passed his grade 8 piano exam. This is an extraordinary achievement and at such an early age. Well Done Kaiden!

Congratulations to Niko (Yr 3) who came first in his tennis club's U8's tournament!  The final game included a whopper 23 hit rally - which he took, winning the match 2-1.

Congratulations to Anya (Y4) who had the chance to participate in the South Central Hockey tournament at Oxford on April 21st. It was a valuable opportunity to compete against the most skilled players in the South of England. Although they did not secure victories against Winchester, Alton, and Oxford, it was a closely fought competition. Despite this, our Slough team proudly claimed the title of "Berkshire's BEST U10!” and received enthusiastic cheers, second only to the winning team. I particularly like the Slough team's motto "We either win or we LEARN!"

First Holy Communion

Congratulations to James (Yr4), Ryan (Yr3) and their brother Joshua, who all received the Sacrament of Holy Communion during the Easter break. It was a beautiful service and a very special celebration for the whole family.
